Creative practice on "A well educated mind vs A well formed mind

On August 30th, 2024, Fathima Memorial Training College in Mylapore, Kollam, hosted a creative practice session on the theme "A Well Educated Mind vs. A Well Formed Mind." The session featured a screening of a TED Talk by Sri Shashi Tharoor, who discussed the distinctions between education and character formation. Tharoor argued that a well-educated mind is characterized by knowledge acquisition and intellectual development, while a well-formed mind integrates values, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence. He argued that education alone is insufficient if it doesn't cultivate wisdom, empathy, and a sense of responsibility towards society. Students shared brief summaries of Tharoor's key points, emphasizing the importance of education not only producing knowledgeable individuals but also well-rounded citizens who contribute positively to the community. The session successfully stimulated meaningful dialogue about the holistic nature of education, inspiring students to pursue learning that fosters both intellect and character.
