Innovative lesson
As part of our B.Ed curriculum, on the 35th day of our teaching practice, I designed an engaging lesson plan on ‘Addition and Subtraction’ from the chapter ‘New Numbers’ to make learning enjoyable and meaningful. I began the class by checking the students’ previous knowledge and then conducted a game-based activity consisting of two rounds. The students were divided into groups for better participation. In the first round, they placed tokens on the correct numbers on a number line based on the given puzzle questions. In the second round, they played with two colored dice, calculated the results, and placed them on the number line. After completing both rounds, I connected the activity to the main concept and explained it clearly. To generalize the concept, I divided the students into two bands and gave activity cards to each group, allowing them to solve the problems collaboratively. The students actively participated and showed great enthusiasm, demonstrating a clear understanding of the topic. Overall, the session was lively, interactive, and effective in helping students grasp addition and subtraction in an enjoyable way.
