NSS camp @fmtc
The first day of the NSS Camp, aptly named Adhikrannam – the dawn of a new light, unfolded like a calm sunrise, filled with warmth and promise. The day commenced with smooth registration, followed by the vibrant Olimala Geetham, creating a peaceful and soulful atmosphere. The flag hoisting by our respected Principal, Dr. M. Omanaseelan, uplifted not only the emblem but also the spirit of every volunteer present.
This was followed by a heartfelt welcome address by Smt. Anupama M. R., and an inspiring presidential address by Dr. M. Omanaseelan. The flow of meaningful speeches continued, culminating in the official inauguration of the camp by Dr. Devipriya D., whose words strongly echoed values of dedication, discipline, and duty.
The day further blossomed into a touching act of service as volunteers took part in the Akshara Cheppu book-collection initiative in memory of Dr. Anzar A. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Devipriya D., whose compassionate message added warmth to the occasion. Insightful reflections by Dr. Hashimudheen A. strengthened the sense of unity and solidarity among the participants.
The event concluded w3ith a warm vote of thanks by Smt. Asha Rani P., gently drawing the formal session to a close. The evening smoothly transitioned into freshening up, camp arrangements, dinner, reflection, and attendance, ending with lights off—bringing a melodious close to a meaningful day. Thus, Adhikrannam marked a perfect beginning, where every moment flowed with learning, bonding, and heartfelt service.
Day 2
The second day of the NSS Special Camp Mizhivu – 2025, themed “Rhythms of Renewal,” was held on 23 December 2025 at Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore. The day began with a refreshing wake-up call, followed by yoga and Zumba sessions that energized the volunteers. Volunteers actively engaged in food preparation and participated in the morning assembly, fostering a sense of unity, discipline, and cooperation.
The highlight of the day was the inspiring session “Bash Bethlora” led by Br. Nithin Basil OFM Cap, which encouraged volunteers to deepen their commitment to faith and service. In addition, creative and service-oriented activities such as a crib-making competition and a book collection drive were conducted, promoting creativity and social responsibility.
The day concluded with an ice-breaking session, followed by dinner, attendance, and lights off, leaving the participants with a sense of fulfillment. Overall, the second day proved to be meaningful, engaging, and enriching for all the volunteers
Day 3
The third day of the NSS Special Camp began early at 5:30 a.m. with physical exercises, followed by a yoga session at 6:00 a.m. The morning continued with breakfast preparation and the morning assembly. At 10:00 a.m., the volunteers visited the Government Old Age Home (Sadhanam), Kollam, where they organized a Christmas celebration. The event included cake cutting, distribution of gifts, and cultural programmes, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere for the residents.
After lunch, an awareness session on the POSH and POCSO Acts was conducted by Dr. Hanna John from Saksham NGO, providing valuable insights and legal awareness to the volunteers. This was followed by a practical lotion-making activity. The day concluded with dinner and lights off at 10:00 p.m., making the day meaningful, informative, and enriching for all the volunteers.
Day 4
The fourth day of the NSS camp was both productive and engaging. The day began with a refreshing yoga session, followed by breakfast preparation. After breakfast, the volunteers attended the morning assembly and participated in an insightful interactive session led by Preethi R on “Future Ready with AI.” The session introduced innovative and cutting-edge tools that are transforming the teaching–learning process.
Later, the volunteers were divided into two focused groups. The first group visited Manasagramam, where they conducted a survey on the educational status of women above 18 years of age and distributed cleaning lotion to the community. The second group worked diligently to set up a library at A.K.M.H.S.S., Mylapore, creating a supportive environment for learning and personal growth.
The day concluded with dinner preparations, a review of the day’s activities, and a discussion of the following day’s plan. Overall, the fourth day was marked by meaningful learning experiences, active community engagement, and impactful service activities.
Day 5
The fifth day of the NSS Camp Mizhivu was conducted with great enthusiasm and active participation. The day began early at 5:30 a.m. with the Rise and Shine session, followed by Move and Breathe activities that energized the volunteers. After a collective cooking session and breakfast, the volunteers gathered for the morning assembly.
At 10:00 a.m., an inspiring session titled “A Teacher is a Candle” was led by Dr. Saiju Khalid, emphasizing the selfless role of teachers in shaping society. This was followed by the afternoon session “From Aspirant to Educator,” handled by Anandhu A., who motivated the volunteers by sharing valuable insights into the journey of becoming an effective educator.
The day also included leisure and bonding activities such as games, movie time, and group interactions, fostering teamwork and camaraderie among the volunteers. The programme concluded with dinner and lights off at 10:00 p.m. Overall, Day 5 of Mizhivu was meaningful, engaging, and enriching, successfully blending discipline, learning, and recreation.
Day 6
The sixth day of the NSS camp began early with volunteers waking up in the morning and preparing breakfast. Following Manava Geetham (NSS prayer), a game session titled “Alpam Karyam” was conducted under the guidance of the Physical Education Instructor, Anand T. P. Sir, which promoted teamwork, coordination, and enthusiasm among the participants.
After lunch, the volunteers were divided into two groups. One group organized books for the library at A.K.M. H.S.S., while the other group engaged in painting the library room, contributing to the improvement of the learning environment.
In the evening, light refreshments were served, followed by a cleanliness drive in the surrounding areas. The day concluded with a cultural programme. Later, dinner was prepared, and the day’s activities came to an end at around 10:00 p.m., marking another productive and meaningful day of the NSS camp.
Day 7
The seventh day of the NSS camp marked the valedictory function. The programme commenced with the flag-lowering ceremony, solemnly conducted by the College Principal, signifying the successful completion of the camp. Following this, the camp report was presented by the NSS Student Coordinator, Mrs. Arunima M. Das, highlighting the various activities, achievements, and learning experiences gained during the camp.
The valedictory function concluded on a note of gratitude and reflection, with a strong sense of collective pride in the dedicated service rendered by the NSS volunteers throughout the camp.
